Vogue Covers

When Condé Nast acquired Vogue in 1909, he changed it from a staid New York society weekly into the most glamorous magazine of its era. He banished low quality black and white photographs from its cover, commissioning instead graphic artists, designers and illustrators to produce alluring fantasies for which Vogue is best known.
Though their names would slip from view over the years, as the camera ultimately triumphed, these elegant covers remain the quintessence of Vogue, a reminder of when art was in fashion.
